Waves of Quietus

Mr. Conner thumbnail
Mr. Conner A striking surreal soundscape with a cold atmosphere built from a diverse set of digitally sticky textures, including bouncing of synthetic balloons, metal raindrops, and crystals refracting light. The experience feels simulated as your brain is electrically stimulated through experimentation, the static residue left to diffuse through the microscopic crevasses in the tissue, eventually sucked up by the dendrites.

about

Recorded Jan and Feb 2021 + Jan 2023

Largely improvised, Quietus was recorded during the same sessions as Shores of Quiddity and acts as a type of sister album. Initially an endeavor to create music to help him sleep during a period of intense anxiety and chronic insomnia, the two albums have two distinct narrative flavors, despite being conceived at the same time. Whereas Shores of Quiddity wryly sounds like meditation music blossoming inside an anxiety-infested mind, Waves of Quietus finds a type of despairing solitude. Western chromatic music looms large, but feels broken into decrepit jetsam floating on a disintegrating iceberg. The language of pop and ambient music is scrambled and destroyed with the abuse of compression, outdated and dysfunctional recording media, and purposefully degraded instrumentation. It plays like an omniscient creator roaming a now-barren planet, helpless to undo its demise. Waves of Quietus will be the final release bearing the Burial Grid name, as Kozak excitedly looks to the future of creating more immersive multimedia projects under his own name.
